~OUTDOOR WEEK~
DAY #5

ASK ME ABOUT...

...where we said the Pledge of Allegiance and did our morning meeting.

...how to play the game, "Dragon Tail".

...what game we did in Spanish.

...the story, Gotta Go!  Gotta Go!

...where we did Free Choice.

...the ice cube activity we did.

~MORNING MEETING~
We walked to the flag pole outside of Academy Hall to say the pledge and do our morning meeting.

We played the game "Dragon Tail".

 

~ICE CUBE ACTIVITY~

 We headed outside for an ice-cube-melting experiment.  Each child was given a piece of ice, a die to roll, a small cup of water and salt in a shaker.  After rolling the die, a child would try to melt his/her cube 1 of 6 ways.  Children continued to roll the die until their ice cube melted.

Pictured below are the 6 different ways children attempted to melt their ice cubes.

We then enjoyed eating popsicles melt in our mouths!

Today was our last swimming class and we enjoyed "Beach Day"!

DAY #4

ASK ME ABOUT

...the hike we took with our buddies in the rain.

...where we ate snack.

...our "wind" experiment.

...whose birthday we celebrated.

~BUDDY HIKE~

Although it was lightly raining, we headed outside with our buddies in search of nature things. 

~WIND EXPERIMENT~

We read the story, The Wind Blew and talked about how we know when it is windy outside since we can't actually see the wind.  Next, we looked at 8 different objects and made predictions whether or not each object would blow in the wind.   Then, each child blew through a straw to discover if his/her object would blow in the wind.  We then recorded our results. 

~NAMES IN NATURE~

Using photos of nature (made into letters), each child spelled his her name.

~BIRTHDAY~

Today we helped Layla celebrate her June birthday.  First, Layla's mom read the story, Push Here, in which the whole class took part.  After we sang to Layla, we enjoyed eating cookies for Layla's birthday treat.  Layla's sister and aunt also joined us for the celebration.  Happy Birthday, Layla!

~EXTENDED DAY PRE-K~

Today was a Discovery Day and we headed outside, into the woods, and into the creek!
